Our products are defined by the careful selection of fine natural and selectively treated materials, finished to enhance their natural beauty. The processes used enhance the qualities inherent in our materials, making each product truly unique. Please find below the specific features of the materials used, which attest to the quality that we guarantee in every product. We recommend that you follow the maintenance instructions provided to guarantee perfect and long-lasting protection and care of our products. Detailed information on the characteristics of materials and their maintenance is included in the Product Sheets attached to all BANCCI products.

01/2024 – This technical document replaces and cancels all previous versions. The user must always consider the most up-to-date version, checking the date shown on the tech document itself.

TIMBER

Specifications

BANCCI timber and veneers try to bring out and enhance the natural features and colouring of the grains in our timber materials. Every tree is a natural living organism with naturally occurring differences which means variations and differences in colour and grain. Excessive and over-selection of wood and raw timber generates unnecessary waste and can make products appear overly mass-produced and impersonal. Some species of timber have clear and distinct natural markings such as small knots and inclusions. These marks are features inherent in timber and should therefore not be considered defects but rather natural qualities. With exposure to light and over time, the colour of timber changes. This means that pieces of furniture made from the same kind of timber over some time gradually acquire colour differences. It is suggested NOT leaving objects on the same place along the timber surface, for extended periods. Light can alter the colour of the surface differently compared to the spot where the object covers the surface. Parts made of solid wood exposed to extreme temperature changes and/or damp environments may lead to warping, sags or small cracks or fissures. These characteristics, which may be more evident on parts made with a lacquered finish, are to be considered completely natural (not defects), due to changes in environmental conditions and do not compromise the technical performance of the product in any way. Do not place the product near heat sources. Avoid prolonged contact with any type of liquids on all surfaces. Over time, the timber may release resin or oils. Please pay attention to objects in general (even fabrics, etc.) when they are in contact with timber. The timbers of BANCCI are treated with special water-based or solvent-based coatings. These different painting techniques enhance, according to the intended use of each product, the natural characteristics of the timber grain (open pore) a protective coating function. Tehe colour of dyed wood can be altered because the timber can bring back to the surface its natural colour. Despite the extreme care taken in the finishing process, slight colour differences may occur, even in different areas of the same product. This characteristic shall in no way be considered a defect or ground for complaint.

Maintenance

PAINTED WOOD (VENEER) SURFACES:

Clean the surface using a dry cloth and Casa 9 multi-purpose cleaner by Nuncas or antibacterial detergent C1.07 BACT. For in-depth cleaning wash surfaces with a damp microfibre cloth and C1.08 GO degreasing detergent, then rinse away with a micro-fibre cloth. If these specific cleaning products are not available, use a damp cloth and neutral detergent for daily cleaning and a degreasing detergent for in-depth cleaning. Dry well the surface using a soft or microfiber cloth. Do not use products containing aceto- ne, chlorine or diluents, powders or abrasive products and strong alkaline detergents. The varnishes for wood are waterproof, anti-yellowing and do not need to be scratched or exposed to high temperatures. Remember that wood is a natural and “alive” material and as such is sensitive to heat and humidity. Do not use furniture waxes.

PAINTED SOLID WOOD SURFACES:

Clean the surface using a dry cloth and Casa 9 multi-purpose cleaner by Nuncas or antibacterial detergent C1.07 BACT. If these specific cleaning products are not available, use a damp cloth and neutral detergent for daily cleaning. Do not use products containeing acetone, chlorine or diluents, powders or abrasive products and strong alkaline detergents. Remove immediately any stains to avoid their permeation.

Iroko:
Typically, iroko does not require maintenance. When used outdoors, this type of wood may take on a silvery colour due to oxidation – the speed of this process varies based on humidity. It is faster in a humid environment compared to a dry environment. To slow the oxidation process, you can periodically treat the surface with oils for iroko. These products can be found at specialized stores. The species colour and tone may vary due to natural causes; it is possible to uniform the wood shade by exposing it to the sun for few days. Warning! The natural oils that are released from iroko may cause stains. To remove these stains the covering can dry clean, gently.

Maintenance

NATURAL WOOD TREATED WITH WAX OR OIL:

Clean the surface with a moist cloth. For in-depth cleaning please use Casa 9 multi-purpose cleaner by Nuncas or antibacterial detergent C1.07 BACT. Dry well with a soft cloth. Specifications

The CDF is an ecological material, with extremely robust density, black, colour-core wood fibreboard (> 1000 kg/m2). Due to its characteristics, the panel can have variations in tone. The panel is treated with pigmented oil and catalysed to increase the strength of the surface; however, the CDF is a material that, due to its characteristics, CANNOT guarantee complete waterproofing and this may involve absorption of liquids and/or various substances that can stain the surface or alter its colouring.

Maintenance

Clean using a moist cloth and warm water and Casa 9 multi-purpose cleaner by Nuncas. If this specific product is not available, please use neutral and not abrasive detergents. Do not use abrasive detergents or products containing bleach. Use extreme caution not to scratch the surface. Do not use abrasive products. Do not place hot objects or do not use beating tools directly onto the surface. It’s recommended to use periodically the specific cleaning/maintenance kit for black CDF (cod. AVBL024). Any deposits of liquids must be immediately removed with a cloth moistened with hot water and Casa 9 multi-purpose cleaner by Nuncas, to avoid colour changes and/or permanent stains. If this specific product is not available, please use neutral and not abrasive detergents. In case of melamine coating, it does not require specific maintenance. Maintenance depends on the type of surface finish (lacquering, veneering, or other).

HPL LAMINATE

Specifications

Plastic laminate is a synthetic material composed of several layers of fibrous material impregnated with thermosetting resins. The High-pressure laminate (HPL) is a highly resistant material, that guarantees high quality standards referred to as resistance to scratching, steam, water, stains, impact, and abrasion. Small faults (dots) on the surface meet the tolerances allowed by the UNI EN 438 European standards that regulate plastic laminates (HPL).

Maintenance

HPL does not require maintenance that goes beyond normal cleaning. Its compact and non-porous surface can easily be cleaned with hot water, steam, and all types of common detergents and disinfectants for domestic use if they are not alkaline. The HPL is anti-static, so it does not attract dust. It does not require any treatment with waxes or products containing it. Clean with a moist cloth, for a depth-in cleaning please use denatured alcohol or liquid detergents diluted with water, rinse and dry well with a soft cloth or clean the surface with a dry cloth and Casa 9 multi-purpose cleaner by Nuncas. For in-depth cleaning please clean the surfaces with a sponge and degreaser detergent with some water (Nuncas Casa 9 Strong). Dry with soft cloth or chamois leather. Do not use alkaline products containing chlorine. Avoid using acids or strong bases. Do not use abrasive substances or tools (e.g. sandpaper or scourer). Avoid furniture polishes and wax-based cleaners in general because they tend to form a sticky layer on the surface, to which the dirt adheres. Do not use products containing diluents or acetone on the edges, to avoid any deformation of cabinet frontal dust protection edges.

OUTDOOR PROTECTIVE COVER
The protective covers are mainly used to protect the product against dirt due to smog, dust, resin, pollen, and bird droppings. During long periods of use, the cover also protects from sudden and short-duration rains. In these cases, once the rain is over, it is necessary to remove the covers for drying, also allowing the product to dry from any slight water left. If the covers are used for an extended period, it is recommended to periodically check that the covered product is dry and there is no condensation under the protection. Otherwise, the cover must be removed, and the product must be dried before covering it again. Removable cushions and covers should never be left under the protective cover for a long time, as they can be damaged by condensation. In these cases, (e.g. winter season) they should be sheltered in a dry environment. When tables should be covered, please put a tennis ball or some other spacers in the centre of them before covering, so that the protection does not adhere completely to the product top, to avoid any pooling with water and to allow the air circulation under the protection. Please avoid any pooling with water. When furniture pieces with a flat surface should be covered, please put a tennis ball or some other spacers in the centre of them before covering, so that the protection does not adhere completely to the product top, to avoid any pooling with water. Shake covers to get rid of debris and dry them completely before storing them away. If necessary, wash covers, after removing them from the product, and then dry them thoroughly. Storing covers improperly with trapped water can cause mould and mildew to form.

MDI composite

Specifications

The MDI composite is an ecological, non-toxic material and complies with European standards. It is highly resistant to knocks and impacts by everyday objects or utensils, scratches, frost, low temperatures, and heat. Because it has a non-porous surface, this prevents the build-up of bacteria or mould. It is resistant to ultraviolet rays and colourfast over time.

Maintenance

MDI is a non-porous surface, which makes it very easy to clean. Clean daily by applying C1.07 BACT (antibacterial detergent) with a damp microfibre cloth. To remove stubborn dirt, use the ready-to-use degreaser C1.08 GO leave for a few minutes, and then rinse away with a microfibre cloth. Do not use abrasive sponges or scourers. Dry stains (ketchup, mustard, vegetable fats) must be softened with warm water and removed with C1.08 GO and microfibre cloth. Limescale residues can be removed with white vinegar or with anti-limescale cleaning products. Do not use pure acid products, abrasive or metal sponges.

MARBLE & STONE – WATER REPELLANT TREATMENT

Specifications

Marble and stone are natural products and therefore have unique and unrepeatable qualities of veining and colouring. For this reason, the slab will never be the same as another. Each slab may contain some imperfections, such as points where the crystallisation is uneven, stains due to the chemical composition or minor pitting or abrasions, which we prefer to leave natural, avoiding the use of corrective putty, since they would fail to match the infinite nuances. The top surfaces have a natural fine-polished finish, treated with water-repellent products. This treatment allows a slowing down of liquid absorption but does not make the material completely waterproof. The marble is particularly sensitive to liquid substances (especially acid-based: wine, vinegar, lemon, tea, coffee, oils, and drinks in general).

Maintenance

Clean daily by applying C1.07 BACT (antibacterial detergent) with a damp microfibre cloth. For in-depth cleaning, use the degreasing detergent C1.08 GO. Do not use scourers, sponges, abrasive products, bleach, solvents, acidic detergents, and alkaline products. The matt honed finish may reveal temporary prints on the surface that can be easily removed with a neutral detergent. Do not use oil-based products liquid wax or cleaners for other surface typologies. Please note: Marble and stone are porous materials; therefore, stains penetrate quickly and must be removed immediately; they are particularly sensitive to weak acids such as lemon, vinegar, tea and coffee. Periodically treat the surface using T3.31H anti-stain treatment according to the instructions.

MARBLE & STONE – POLYESTER TREATMENT

Specifications

As an option, available on all types of marble, a protective treatment based on a matt polyester finish, which enhances the veining and natural chromatic shades of the marble slabs and guarantees waterproofness to any liquid (wine, vinegar, lemon, tea, coffee, oils, drinks in general…). Even if treated, it is recommended to not place plates, cups, glasses, or any acidic products such as lemon juice or vinegar directly on the marble top, so please use always use trivets or placemats to protect it. In case of any liquid residue on top, please dry it quickly with an absorbent cloth/paper. Never expose the marble countertop to direct light for prolonged periods, the polyester finish may be yellow. Avoid sudden temperature changes (not recommended for use in environments below 10°C). The material must not be exposed to high levels of humidity.

Maintenance

Clean daily the surfaces removing dust and dry residues using a cotton or microfibre cloth. In case of stubborn dirt, use a spongy cloth, moisten with warm water and neutral detergent and wipe gently to remove stains avoiding pressing too much on the surface and repeating the procedure several times. When finished, wipe the entire surface with a slightly damp cloth to remove any marks left during the above-specified cleaning procedures.

FABRICS

Specifications

CUSTOMERS’ FABRICS:
Furniture may be upholstered with customers’ own fabrics, after approval of a sample and without any responsibility assumed by De Padova for the aesthetic result, the durability of the fabric and the uniformity of the colours (see: general conditions). When a sample of the customer’s own fabrics is tested, please indicate the selvedge position. In the case of patterned fabric, the design direction has always to be specified. The fabric length shown on the price list is purely indicative. Only after the fabric approval, the actual length to make the product will be communicated.

ADVICE FOR FITTING A NEW COVER ON AN OLD SOFA:
Over time some upholstery may lose their volume. This is why when a new cover is put on an old sofa, it may be too large. The cover will shrink gradually after each wash. Also felting and humidity can cause shrinkage and it is therefore normal that an old and new cover can differ by a few centimetres. As the cover shrinks even the sofa padding can adapt to the dimensions of the cover, becoming more compact—especially the wadding shrinks, also due to use. Before fitting the new cover on the sofa, please adjust the padding, especially in the corners of the backrests. For the above-mentioned reasons, BANCCI doesn’t guarantee a perfect fit of a new cover on an old sofa. When a new cover shrinks up to 2% (2cm for 1m; 4 cm for 2 m) compared to an old cover, it can be fitted correctly. To remove small imperfections and abundances please use a steam iron on the cover already fit, using the right temperature according to the type of fabric. In case of help, contact a professional upholsterer. If a new cover is slightly larger, before any changes on it please take it to a professional laundry for a first wash. Otherwise, if you change the cover first and wash it later, it may become too small. If the new cover is too large, please contact your trusted upholsterer for any changes /adjustments. BANCCI can offer this service, at an additional cost. In case BANCCI changes the cover, it is necessary to know if the cover is new or has been already washed, and then it is needed to receive the old cover or, even better, the whole sofa.

Specifications

PILLING:
The pilling is a peculiar feature (more or less evident) of each fabric. All our fabrics are finished with anti-pilling treatment and are pilling tested. Despite this, fabrics are forced to form typical pills by rubbing (during use and washing). It is recommended to wash the fabric with the method that involves the least possible rubbing. In the case of pills on fabrics, do not stretch them to avoid any fraying, but try to cut carefully the fibre connecting the fabric and the pills using a small scissor. Be careful not to damage the fabric. A pilling remover machine can be also used.

WASHING OF FABRICS

Maintenance

EXPRESS MAINTENANCE FOR UPHOLSTERED PRODUCTS

Do not insist that the product may be damaged. If cleaning is unsatisfactory, proceed with washing or proper maintenance of the product, or contact a centre specialised in the washing of covers.

BEFORE WASHING:
Please use the supplied protecting Velcro straps. Remove any pet hair with the brush or the lint roller. Before washing turn your cover inside out.

WASHING OF NON-REMOVABLE COVERS:

Contact a centre or service specialized in the washing of textiles and fabrics, or use specific products, dry and liquid (foams) and follow the instructions for the stain-removing product. First test the product on an area that is not clearly visible.

WASHING OF REMOVABLE COVERS, 30°C CLEANABLE:
When washing fabrics, carefully follow the instructions provided on the label of the cover. However, it is suggested to consult professional personnel. The water washable fabric (at 30°C) can shrink by approximately 2% – even if washed correctly (1 cm shrinkage for 1 m, 2 cm shrinkage for 2 m). Up to 5-6% shrinkage can occur when fabrics are incorrectly washed (shrinkage of 5-6 cm for 1 m). In this case, it will be impossible to put the cover correctly. For the cover handwashing is recommended. Always use detergents for delicate fabrics. If using the washing machine, please select delicate fabric wash cycles. Please complete the water washing by adding fabric softener or silicone-based hair conditioner (Dimethicone, Amodimethicone, Ciclometiconeicone, siloxane, etc.) Do not use the tumble dryer, because the temperature can reach 90 °C and excessive shrinkage can occur. Please recommend to the laundry service not to tumble dry. If the cover is a bit small, put it back onto the sofa when it is still slightly damp. This way, if you need to stretch it back to fit, you can do so easily.

WASHING OF REMOVABLE COVERS, DRY CLEANABLE:
When washing fabrics, carefully follow the instructions provided on the label of the cover. However, it is suggested to consult professional personnel. Our dry cleanable fabrics, when properly washed, can shrink from 0 to 0.5%. Do not wash with water and tumble dry, otherwise, the cover will shrink too much and cannot be more used.

VELVET

Specifications

Velvet is a very delicate material that is defined by thick, dense hairs. Normally, fabrics are cut with a template to make the best use of the material, while also having the lowest consumption and therefore reduced waste. However, velvet is always cut by hand with templates in the direction of the hair – this is why its consumption increases. Velvet also leads to a limitation of the type of seam that can be used, which must therefore be defined and agreed upon on a case-by-case basis. Most covers in velvet are not removable. Spare velvet covers are not available because handling and transport could damage the product. Take great care when unpacking and positioning the product.

Maintenance

The velvet products have a special packaging, but during transport small imperfections can occur. To remove them or marks and wrinkles, please use steam and comb the hair with a soft brush. If you need to remove stains from velvet, please consult a specialist. If you want to try to remove stains from velvet, with dry foam or other specific products on the market, always test the stain remover on a hidden area first. During use, be careful not to scratch the velvet with objects of any kind.

LEATHER

Specifications

Leather is a natural living material and over the years can become even more beautiful. Exposure to direct sunlight alters the colour of leather over time. Moreover, use and time transform this material, making it truly one-of-a-kind. Natural signs and marks (scars, stains, wrinkles, etc.) on leather and cowhide are features of this material that attest to its authenticity and enhance its natural beauty. Since the various parts of the animal’s body have different characteristics, uniformity of tone and appearance between hides is not guaranteed, and even more, if they come from different animals. Furthermore, the leather colour tone between one batch and the next is not guaranteed. In humid environments, cowhide may take on some deformation or changes, which shall not be considered a defect. Leather and cowhide are delicate and easily marked. During unpacking and positioning, handle the product with the utmost care. During use, be careful not to scratch the leather with objects of any kind.

Maintenance

Wipe the surface daily with a clean, soft cloth. For spots or light scratches, use a slightly dampened cloth, making sure to wring out any excess water and then wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use objects that could scratch the leather. It is recommended to clean it periodically with the leather cleaner (cod. KI- TNALC o KITNKLC).
